What to Design in May

Today I wanted to give you some inspiration on what to design in May. If you’re stuck on ideas or wanting to get ahead, you’ve come to the right place. Please keep in mind that National awareness days and some holidays can change date each year, so make sure to look up event dates for the current year so you don’t miss it! It should also be noted that there are tons (and I mean TONS) of National Days, so this isn’t an extensive list by any means.

Project Ideas

Okay, we’ve got a list but now what can you do with it? If you’re flower obsessed like me, National Wildflower Week will have you dreaming of all the flowers, bees, and butterflies! Teacher Appreciation is also huge here in the States. Lots of parents make gift baskets, gift card holders, or personalized signs for their teachers. Something like National Backyard Games Week might have you thinking of printable games or scavenger hunts you could make for the kids.

National Scrapbooking Day is in May, and there are tons you could do with that. You can make Scrapbook Kits which sometimes contain patterns, clipart, photo frames, stickers, or other elements to be used with scrapbooks. 

Thinking Ahead

Father’s Day is coming up next month, as well as Summer. Think beaches, cruises, gardening, relaxing, going to the pool or ocean, etc. Everyone enjoys their summers a little different, so think about what you like about this season and see if you can pull inspo from that! 

Christmas in July is also around the corner, so you might want to start thinking about designs so the early birds can have files ready to use. 

Evergreen Projects

And lastly, I want to share some evergreen projects each month to get you thinking about topics you might not have in your design catalog yet! This month I want to talk about animals. These could work for clipart or sublimation designs, SVGs, or for adding into your greeting cards or digital pattern designs. I hope these spark some ideas for you! ✨
