A Small Business Review on Faire Wholesale

October 4, 2021

I’ve been selling on Faire for 3+ years now. I wanted to share with you my review on Faire Wholesale as a small business owner. Overall, I’m very pleased with Faire and all the retailers it has brought me. 2020 was a year I thought I’d have to quit my business, but because of Faire I was able to keep it running.

Pros to Faire Wholesale:

+ Faire is a well known site, so there are tons of retailers ready to buy from you. I guarantee I wouldn’t be able to reach out to as many retailers that Faire has brought me.

+ Faire is also really easy to use. I’ve heard that buyers are also really happy with the platform, which I can’t say is true for every platform.

+ I enjoy how easy it is to upload products. As someone who struggles with repetitive tasks sometimes, uploading can be a huge pain. However, uploading to Faire has never bothered me. I know this is a small reason for liking a platform, but it makes a big difference to me!

Cons to Faire Wholesale:

My only con for Faire is the fee structure. Faire does take a high percent of your profits and if your business isn’t prepared for that then it may not be the right platform for you.

Pricing structure: if you bring a retailer to Faire with your link they will be on a 0% commission with every future order from you. If a retailer orders from you but they haven’t used your link to sign up or haven’t been a previous retailer of yours then Faire would receive 25% on their first order, and 15% on every order after that. If you select to get paid the next day they take another 3%.

At first the fees really got to me and made me want to start my own wholesale website. However, now that Faire has brought me so many retailers I don’t mind it as much. Reaching out to retailers is a lot of work, so I appreciate their easy to use platform and all the exposure.

Pricing Structure Examples:

1. Retailer A has found your shop on their own, and orders $100. Faire takes 25% off their first order. If you have selected to get paid the next day you would make $72.75. If you selected Net 30 payment then you would make $75.

2. That same retailer returns and purchases $70 from you. They’re able to spend less because your return order is lower. In this scenario you would make $59.50 if you’ve selected to get paid 30 days from now. Faire takes 15% commission on return orders from retailers they bring you.

3. A retailer clicked on your direct link. They ordered $100 from you and you’ve selected to get paid 30 days from now. You will make $100. Faire takes 0% from the customers you’ve brought to them.

If you are actively bringing retailers to the site they will forever have a 0% commission. I would recommend doing Net 30 terms for payouts, because that 3% to get paid right away does add up, and in my opinion it’s not worth it.
