Using Keywords Everywhere
I would 100% recommend using Keywords Everywhere for your small business. For $10 a year it can give you SO much valuable information! In 7 months of using Keywords Everywhere for both my full time job and my own business, I have only used 20,000 credits.
I have my settings set to not use credits for the sidebar, which I would encourage you to do as well. This will save your credits so you’re not going through them as quickly. The credits go a long way, and for $10 you can learn SO much valuable information.
Disclaimer: link below is an affiliate link. If you sign up, I will receive credits. However, my thoughts are 100% honest and my own.
Let’s do a search for Encouragement Cards.
2,900 people are searching for “Encouragement Cards” each month! The competition is a 1, which means ranking for this keyword is going to be pretty difficult. The score goes from 0.0-1, with 1 being the hardest to rank for. But I wouldn’t necessarily write this keyword off, since 2,900 people are still searching for it.
I would only target keywords with search volumes of 100-10,000. Anything higher than 10,000 may be too difficult to rank for if you are just starting out with SEO.
Sidebar Information from Keywords Everywhere:
Off to the right hand side there’s TONS of information provided. The first thing you might notice is the global trends data for your search term. Looks like Covid gave Encouragement Cards it’s highest search term in a long time!
Scroll down a bit you’ll see related keywords, the terms people also searched, and some long tail keywords. If you have the sidebar credits turned off, it will look like my screenshot below. If you had them all turned on then it would show all the Search Volume and Competition info right there. I’d rather just open the terms I’m interested in, in a new tab, instead of wasting all those credits!
Using SEMrush
Disclaimer: SEMrush is really pricey and probably out of range for most small businesses. However, if you have the funds, SEMrush is an incredibly useful tool. It gives you keyword research volumes, competitive analysis, and so much more. I use it for work and it’s super fun to use!!
Favorite SEO Tools: Keywords Everywhere | SEMrush | Google Analytics | Google Search Console | Yoast SEO
I hope you found this post helpful! Using Keywords Everywhere has helped me in so many aspects of my business and work, so if you are just getting started with small business SEO I would recommend this tool 100%.
